Studying a Diploma course in Law allows students to discover the profession on their own terms without the pressure of being pressurized into becoming a qualified lawyer. Law Diplomas in Malaysia can last between two to three years, after which graduates may seek career positions such as that of Legal Advisors, Legal Editors, Consumer Affairs Managers, etc. If the field continues to interest said Diploma graduate, admission into a Law degree is manageable, and, once a Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) and Chambering is completed, one can take the position of a qualified Lawyer, ready to practice. Most Diploma courses in Law touch upon broader Law subjects such as the Legal System and Criminal and Contract Law, along with electives provided to students further during the course, covering the various types of fields under Law, from International Law to Family Law.

Malaysia comprises of several schools specializing in Law, such as Advance Tertiary College and Brickfields Asia College – while Law courses at these institutions may be completed and rewarded within Malaysia itself, students also have the option of obtaining their qualification from an overseas Law institution as well, such as the University of London, through partnership programmes Malaysian institutions often provide their students.
