About
UCSI University’s Foundation in Medical Science programme offers a targeted preparatory pathway for students aiming for careers in medicine, nursing, optometry, and related healthcare fields. It delivers a strong foundation in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics, alongside practical exposure to medical sciences and development of essential soft skills. Students are mentored by experienced professors in a supportive academic environment. Assessment combines 50% written exams and 50% coursework, promoting both theoretical understanding and practical application. This programme equips students for the rigours of medical and health-related degree studies.

Academic Requirements

SPM / O-Level: 5 credits, including:
- B grade in: Mathematics / Additional Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology
- Other Equivalent Qualifications (Recognized by MQA): Overall average of 65%, in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Mathematics
Note: Subject to acceptance by professional bodies such as the Malaysian Medical Council and Malaysian Pharmacy Board.
English Language Requirements
Candidates are exempted from SE004 Basic English and SE005 English Foundation if they meet any of the following:
- UEC English Language: Minimum Grade A2
- MUET: Minimum Band 2
- TOEFL: Score 30-31
- IELTS: Minimum 4.0
- O-Level/IGCSE/SPM English 1119: Minimum Grade C
- CEFR: Minimum Grade B1 (with at least 2 skills at B1)
- Cambridge English Qualification: Minimum 140
- Cambridge Linguaskill: Minimum 140
- Pearson Test of English (PTE): Minimum 36
