About University of Hertfordshire

Formed in 1953 as Hatfield Technical College, and later gained University status in 1992, the University of Hertfordshire is a public university located in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England. In 2010, the university was declared the ‘Entrepreneurial University of the Year by Times Higher Education. It is also regarded as one of the greenest universities in UK.

The university is divided into four faculties with fourteen academic schools, which are the Faculty of Business, the Faculty of Health and Human Sciences, the Faculty of Humanities, Law and Education, and the Faculty of Science, Technology and Creative Arts. Throughout the years, University of Hertfordshire has gained its academic reputation in areas such as astrophysics, business, geography, history, and pharmacology. The Guardian University guide for 2011 ranked the university 9th for physics. It built up an excellent reputation for learning and teaching, awarded by the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency with consistently high scores for teaching quality.

University of Hertfordshire accommodation is actually on campus, so you're always close to the social and learning facilities you need.

College Lane Campus

Campus

The University of Hertfordshire has two sites, College Lane and de Havilland, both are less than a kilometre apart. College Lane Campus is the main site of the university, houses most of the University’s Schools. Library and computer centre, Art and Design Gallery, Students' Union, halls of residence are based on this campus. A new student social space, known as The Forum, offers an entertainment venue, shops, cafes, and bars. The de Havilland campus houses Business, as well as Humanities and Education. It features its own library and computer centre. Eleven residence halls, the Student Union Shop, the Weston Auditorium, and Sports Village. The Sports Village contains station gym, exercise studios, swimming pool, sports hall, courts, and indoor climbing wall.

The University of Hertfordshire is located, just 25 minutes by train from London in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside. The University of Hertfordshire’s two campuses in Hatfield are only ten minutes walk apart and are safe, attractive places to live and study.
