Entry Requirements
- Typical UCAS Offer: 280. BTEC: DMM or MMM plus 40 points from other qualifications at Level 3.
- All applicants need GCSE minimum grade C Mathematics and English Language, or recognised equivalent.
Curriculum
On our Internet of Things degree - developed in partnership with Hewlett-Packard. This degree will be recruiting in September 2015. Our networking graduates are recognised worldwide.
The Internet of Things is the trend for environments and devices to become more connected and to have more information associated with them. It is predicted that there will be 31 billion things connected to the internet by 2020. Most of these will not be computers, tablets or even mobile phones - they'll be ordinary devices.
Environments, buildings, vehicles, clothing, portable devices and other objects will have the ability to sense, analyse, communicate, network and produce new information. A widespread Internet of Things could transform how we live in our cities, how we travel, how we manage our lives sustainably, how we age and how services and entertainment accompany us and adapt as our surroundings change.
These devices, the systems and infrastructure they use, and the applications to process the data all need developing and maintaining. And central to that are the embedded software, networks and applications that could be developed.
This is a new and innovative course and is one of the very first courses to cover the Internet of Things.
This course has been developed in partnership with Hewlett-Packard (HP). HP is one of the world's largest IT companies with operations in more than 170 countries and HP has research expertise in the Internet of Things. HP will support you in a number of different ways, including mentoring and providing guest speakers.
The future of much of computing is the internet of things. You'll also learn about important industry certifications, such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and HP's Accredited Technology Associate (ATA).
