About Shannon College of Hotel Management

Shannon College of Hotel Management is Ireland’s only college dedicated to hotel management. Founded in 1951, Shannon College is renowned worldwide for its commitment to excellence in hospitality education. Shannon College is a Recognised College of the National University of Ireland and has close academic links with NUI Galway.

Shannon College offers two honours bachelors degrees in business studies and hotel hotel management. The degrees are Level 8 degrees (on the National Framework of Qualifications) and the aim of the programmes is to equip graduates to reach the position of hotel manager or similar management positions within the international hotel industry.

Accommodation

All Year 1 students are allocated a place in college organised student housing located in Castle Gardens at Bunratty Village. Three students share each house which comprises three en-suite bedrooms, living/dining room, kitchen and garden.  Bunratty Village is located approximately 8 km from Shannon College and the College organises a bus to transfer students to class each morning.

Accommodation Charge:
The accommodation charge in 2014 was €3,224 per academic year. The accommodation charge can be paid in two instalments €1,612.00. Each student is required to pay a utility charge of €250 in September and €100 in January. This will be used to offset the charge of gas and electricity in the student’s house.

Living Out:
Students who live within 15 miles of the college are permitted to live out. All year 1 students who live more than 15 miles from the college are required to live in the student village in Bunratty. Exceptions may be made for mature students (age over 23) or students with special circumstances. Students who live within the above radius may avail of accommodation if there are vacancies.

Campus

Shannon College organises student membership of Shannon Swimming and Leisure Centre for a nominal fee of €100 for the academic year. Facilities include 25m swimming pool, gym, fitness suite, sports halls, dance studio, tennis courts and climbing wall.
