Pomona College is located in Claremont, California, a tree-lined residential community of 35,000 near the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. Just a short walk away from campus is the Village, which has a five-screen movie theater and more than 150 shops, galleries, cafes and restaurants that offer everything from Italian and Thai food to hamburgers and vegan fare.
Los Angeles is just 35 miles to the west, and within 50 miles of the campus lies all that Southern California has to offer—from academic and cultural centers, theme parks and attractions to the desert, mountains and beaches.
Pomona College is located in Claremont, California, 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.
The social side of life at Pomona is as collegial as the academic side. Nearly every student chooses to live on campus all four years – and not just because we have fantastic residence halls. Students stay because of the people.
We have 16 residence halls with rooms in a number of configurations – singles, doubles, and suite-style.
First-year students are grouped into small sponsor groups with two sophomore mentors. You’ll meet a built-in cohort the moment you step on campus (not to mention the friends you’ll make during Orientation Adventure).
Our campus is divided unofficially with first- and second-year students living on South Campus and juniors and seniors living on North Campus.
All residence halls are smoke-free and we do offer some special housing options, like substance-free housing, the five-college housing exchange, friendship suites, and language halls.
