Curriculum

The degree will give you an understanding of key psychological disciplines as well as insight into criminal behaviour and the justice system.

You'll learn about the social context of crime, criminal behaviour and the criminal justice system from sociological, legal and psychological perspectives. And you'll learn how this relates to victimology, punitive justice, treatment and rehabilitation.

The course is delivered by specialist staff teaching in our multi-million pound purpose-built Science Centre. You'll work with a range of dedicated facilities, including:

  • An observation suite
  • The Psychological Human Sciences Suite
  • A Cognitive Suite with state-of-the-art eye tracking equipment and testing cubicles

The core elements of the course include social psychology, research methods, cognitive and biological psychology, individual differences, criminology and approaches to crime and deviance. There is a range of option modules, meaning that you can specialise in other key areas of psychology later in your degree such as Health Psychology, Psychological Interventions and other relevant topics.
