Northwestern Polytechnical University

Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) is located in ancient capital city of Xi'an. As a university of science and technology, NPU, research-oriented, multi-disciplinary, and internationally-open, outstands in aeronautics, astronautics, and marine technology home and abroad. While NPU excels at science and technology, harmoniously, it also well develops in the fields of management, humanities, economics, and law. The university is affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and is a member of "Outstanding University Alliance" in China.

NPU has 16 academic schools, offering 62 undergraduate programs, 122 postgraduate programs, 69 doctoral programs, and 16 postdoctoral programs. Now it has 2 First-Class State Key Disciplines, 7 Second-Class State Key Discipline, 2 State Key Demonstration Disciplines, 21 Doctoral disciplines, 31 Master disciplines, 1 State Key Laboratory, 6 State Key Defense Laboratories, 2 State Engineering Centers, 1 National Defense Science and Technology Industrial Research Center, 33 Provincial Key Labs, 20 provincial Engineering research centers, and 1 Provincial Humanities & Social Sciences Base.

NPU has more than 3,500 faculty members, including 1,700 full and associate professors, 538 PhD supervisors, 19 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) or the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), 20 chair and lecture professors of Cheung Kung Scholars Program, 10 nominees of “Thousand Talents Program” and 11 winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 13 winners of China Youth Science and Technology Award, 7National Experts with Remarkable Contributions, 4 winners of National Distinguished Teacher, 18 winners of New Century Talents Project, 2 winners of Young Talents Award, 3 winners of Excellent Youth Science Foundation and 98 winners of New Century Excellent talents Program. Presently NPU has 7 national teaching teams and 7 national innovative research teams, 2 NSFC innovative research groups, 8 national defense innovative teams and 1 outstanding national defense innovative team.

Since the foundation, NPU has graduated 160,000 talents for National Defense and Economy, with 4500 doctors and 29300 masters. 34 doctors or teachers got Hundborg Foundation. NPU has established cooperation with over 100 universities, enterprises and institutes from different countries like U.S.A, UK, Germany, France, Russia and Japan, etc.
